safe routes

With a $100,000 goal for the 2023-2024 Leadership Cheyenne project, the class is partnering with local companies, donors, and organizations to design and install 3- to 5-foot tall, vinyl wrapped bollards that will be placed along neighborhoods near elementary schools. Each bollard will feature an LED lighting component to aid in lighting the pathway to direct students and pedestrians once the sun sets.

Leadership Cheyenne anticipates that these bollards will become identifiable crossings for children walking to school, and that children will choose these paths to take when walking to or from school. Placement of the bollards will coincide with the Cheyenne Metropolitan Organization’s (MPO) research for SafeRoutes to School. Research is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2024.

Funding for Safe Routes is being raised through the annual Cheyenne Boo Ball. This year’s event will be hosted Saturday, October 26 at Little America and all sponsorships and donations will directly benefit the Leadership Cheyenne 2023-2024 class project. This year’s class is continuously seeking community donations for silent auction items,  table and ticket reservations, or monetary funding. If you are interested in supporting this year’s class, email LeadershipCheyenne2024@gmail.com or click the "Donate Today" button.

Leadership Cheyenne would like to thank the Boo Ball’s presenting sponsor, Affordable Roofing Wyoming, and all of its current community partners: Laramie County School District #1, Wyoming Department of Transportation, Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Organization, City of Cheyenne Engineer’s Office, and the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce.
